The successful House Manager will report directly to an experienced Executive Assistant who has worked closely with the Principal for many years. This is a varied, hands-on role requiring a proactive and detail-oriented individual who can ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the residence to the highest possible standards.
The household operates with a small, close-knit team of approximately five staff members. As such, the House Manager will play a key role in coordinating operations, supporting team members, and maintaining a well-structured and efficient working environment. You will be expected to take initiative, anticipate requirements, and ensure all aspects of the property are managed with precision and discretion.
A unique aspect of this role is the management of the Principal’s vintage car collection. The House Manager will oversee all administrative and logistical elements relating to the fleet, including MOTs, servicing schedules, insurance, and general upkeep. While driving is not required, a strong understanding of vehicle management and maintenance processes is essential.
In addition to property and asset management, the role will occasionally involve representing the household in internal meetings in the absence of the Executive Assistant. These meetings will focus on the upkeep, organisation, and operational efficiency of the residence. As such, candidates should be confident communicators with a professional manner and the ability to engage effectively in a business-like setting. A bachelor’s degree is required for this position.
The ideal candidate will possess an exceptional understanding of London, including its luxury hotels, private members’ clubs, and high-end restaurants. This knowledge will support lifestyle coordination and ensure the Principal receives a seamless and high-quality service experience both within and outside the home.
Strong IT proficiency is also essential, as the role will involve managing schedules, coordinating services, and maintaining accurate records. Candidates should be comfortable using a range of digital tools and systems to support the efficient running of the household.
This position may require occasional on-call availability; however, this is infrequent and will be managed respectfully. Flexibility, discretion, and a calm, solutions-focused approach are key attributes for success in this role.
